Our client is a leading renewable energy company specializing in developing, owning, and operating utility-scale renewable energy projects across Africa and the Middle East, with a strong focus on solar, wind, and battery energy storage solutions.

About the role

Own the end-to-end engineering, construction, installation, and commissioning of a utility-scale asset through Commercial Operation Date (COD)—delivering Zero Harm, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality/specification. Prepare a structured handover to Operations/Asset Management.

Key Responsibilities

HSE Leadership

  • Champion project Health & Safety standards and culture; drive site compliance to achieve Zero Harm.

Construction Management

  • Lead constructability reviews and incorporate construction/logistics constraints into the Project Execution Plan and schedule.
  • Oversee quality control and inspection & test plans (ITPs), ensuring checks are completed before works are covered.
  • Plan workforce mobilization (including visas and site administration) and supervise day-to-day site activities to deliver to budget, schedule, quality, and specifications.
  • Coordinate all construction/installation-related contracts/packages (e.g., EPCI, temporary works, base camp, services) from technical, contractual, and commercial perspectives.

Risk & Resources

  • Maintain a live risk register for construction and commissioning phases and ensure mitigations are tracked to closure.
  • Align resource plans and site logistics (plant, tools, laydown, cranes, access) to project needs and milestones.

Interfaces, Stakeholders & Reporting

  • Manage interfaces between multiple packages (segregated work areas, logistics synergies, physical tie-ins).
  • Act as primary site interface with contractors, consultants, vendors, clients, and authorities.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly reports, progress photos, dashboards and escalate blockers per project procedures.

Compliance & QHSE Systems

  • Adhere to information security and QHSE policies; support audits, inductions, incident reporting, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Construction/Science (Master's an advantage).

Experience

  • 6–8+ years in construction management with an EPC or developer/owner's team on large, complex energy/utility projects; international/regional experience preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Working knowledge of renewable and conventional energy project delivery; utility/business acumen.
  • Strong grasp of subcontracts, insurance, permitting, scheduling, and contract administration; familiarity with project finance/budgeting interfaces.
  • Proven leadership in complex, multi-disciplinary teams; negotiation and influence skills with contractors and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication in English (Arabic a plus).

Location & Work Conditions

  • Site-based with regular field presence; regional travel as required.
  • May involve shift/rotation aligned to construction milestones.

  • HSE KPIs (TRIR/LTI-free delivery).
  • Schedule adherence and milestone achievement.
  • Cost & change control, including disciplined variation management.
  • Quality/ITP closure and readiness for handover/COD.
