Reports to: Head of EPC and Strategic Procurement
Location: Dubai
Our client is a leading renewable energy company specializing in developing, owning, and operating utility-scale renewable energy projects across Africa and the Middle East, with a strong focus on solar, wind, and battery energy storage solutions.
Main Purpose of Role
The candidate will develop, negotiate, and execute project agreements related to renewable energy power plants. The role demands a detail-oriented professional with strong negotiation skills and comprehensive knowledge of contractual and legal frameworks in renewable energy sectors like wind, solar, and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Development and Negotiation:
- Draft and review project-specific contracts, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPA), Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts, Operation and Maintenance (O&M) agreements, and other relevant documents.
- Lead contract negotiations with stakeholders such as utilities, governments, contractors, and suppliers.
- Ensure that all contracts align with project goals and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Finance, Legal, and Engineering) to mitigate risks in contracts.
Risk Management:
- Identify contractual risks associated with projects.
- Proactively develop risk mitigation strategies, ensuring the company's interests are protected.
- Advise the project teams on risk exposure and resolution in contract-related issues.
Contract Execution and Administration:
- Ensure contracts are executed correctly, including tracking key deliverables and managing any contract changes.
- Handle variations, claims, amendments, and disputes.
- Monitor contract performance and compliance across all parties, ensuring adherence to project schedules and budgets.
Compliance and Regulatory Affairs:
- Stay updated with industry standards, legal regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Ensure all contractual obligations are fulfilled within the framework of local and international law.
- Work closely with legal advisors to ensure that agreements meet all legal requirements.
Stakeholder Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders including contractors, suppliers, and external partners.
- Liaise with internal and external parties to ensure effective communication and contractual compliance.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare regular reports for the project leadership and senior management on contract status, risks, and compliance.
- Maintain proper documentation of all contracts and related materials.
Support for Business Development:
- Provide contractual expertise and guidance during the project bidding phases.
- Assist in the preparation of proposals and ensure compliance with tender documents.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Business, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in contract management in the energy or infrastructure sectors.
- Strong understanding of renewable energy project structures, specifically related to PPAs, EPC, and O&M agreements.
- Experience negotiating with international and local stakeholders in energy markets.
- Knowledge of contractual risk management practices and legal frameworks.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in contract management software and tools.
