Our client is a leading renewable energy company specializing in developing, owning, and operating utility-scale renewable energy projects across Africa and the Middle East, with a strong focus on solar, wind, and battery energy storage solutions.

About the Role

The Contracts Manager is responsible for overseeing all contractual and commercial aspects of projects, including negotiation, administration, and management of vendor and subcontractor agreements. The role ensures that all contract activities are executed efficiently, in line with company policies, governance frameworks, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Contract Negotiation & Administration

  • Lead the negotiation, drafting, and execution of contracts to protect the company's interests
  • Manage day-to-day contract administration, including variations, claims, and change orders
  • Provide contractual guidance to project teams, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations
  • Issue contractual correspondence and maintain proper documentation and registers

Contract Performance, Payments & Closure

  • Monitor contractor and vendor performance against agreed deliverables and timelines
  • Ensure timely processing of invoices and payments in accordance with contract terms
  • Manage contract close-out activities, including completion certificates, guarantees, and retention releases

Documentation & Record Management

  • Maintain a comprehensive record of all contracts, correspondence, and supporting documentation
  • Ensure contractual documentation complies with company policies and audit requirements.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Support the project team in resolving disputes and facilitating smooth coordination among all parties.

Continuous Improvement & Reporting

  • Contribute to the development of contract management policies, procedures, and templates.
  • Prepare regular reports on contract status, risks, and financial exposure for management review.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and company compliance standards.
  • Participate in internal audits and implement corrective measures where necessary.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, or Law; Master's degree or MBA preferred.
  • 8–12 years of experience in contract management within construction, infrastructure, energy, or industrial sectors
  • Experience in EPC, PPP, IPP, or renewable energy projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of contract law, commercial terms, and risk management principles.
  • Proficient in contract management software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
