Our client is a leading renewable energy company specializing in developing, owning, and operating utility-scale renewable energy projects across Africa and the Middle East, with a strong focus on solar, wind, and battery energy storage solutions.
About the role
Responsible for managing all technical aspects during the execution, completion, and handover of utility-scale solar PV or renewable power projects. Supports earlier stages of project development, defines design requirements, coordinates engineering deliverables, and ensures projects are delivered to the highest standards of quality, performance, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Construction & Commissioning Supervision of large-scale renewable power plants
- Manage all technical aspects of projects within the delivery team, ensuring adequate resources, quality control, and adherence to timelines and contractual requirements.
- Coordinate and review engineering deliverables, design documentation, and construction interfaces.
- Supervise field engineering activities, site inspections, and performance testing.
- Identify potential technical risks and implement mitigation measures.
- Recommend technology or infrastructure improvements to enhance project efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Participation in Tendering & RFP Phases
- Define technical requirements for EPC, O&M, and equipment supply contracts.
- Contribute to technical evaluations, vendor selection, and contract negotiations.
- Develop technical evaluation matrices and selection criteria for consultants and contractors.
Technical & Operational Support
- Provide ongoing technical and techno-economic support for projects under development and operation.
- Review performance data and propose design optimization for existing assets.
- Ensure engineering solutions maximize project value, reliability, and sustainability.
Knowledge Management & Continuous Improvement
- Establish and maintain knowledge management practices for engineering data and lessons learned.
- Integrate insights from previous projects into future planning and execution.
- Drive continuous improvement in technical procedures and project execution standards.
Stakeholder & Contract Management
- Engage with stakeholders, consultants, and regulatory bodies to address technical queries and ensure alignment.
- Support negotiation and management of technical aspects of EPC, O&M, and supply agreements.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with partners and contractors to ensure successful delivery.
Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare and present project progress and technical reports to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with organizational governance, QHSE standards, and information security protocols.
- Promote adherence to quality, safety, and environmental management systems.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
- Chartered Engineer or Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 8 years in the power or renewable energy sector with EPCs, developers, or technical consultants.
Skills:
- Strong technical expertise in solar and renewable power systems.
- Proven project management and stakeholder coordination capabilities.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and deliver projects under tight timelines.
- High attention to detail and strong analytical mindset.
