Role: Manager - Ethics & Compliance

Our Client is a leading UAE utility, which owns and operates power and water transmission and distribution assets.
Main Purpose of Role
Ensuring all operations comply with ethics & compliance legal/regulatory framework, and internal standards. The position plays a key role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating compliance risks, working to prevent breaches and managing any violations that may arise.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain an effective compliance program to ensure adherence to the relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, and sector-specific rules related to water and power
- Regularly review and update compliance policies and procedures to align with regulatory changes and best practices
- Establish clear compliance objectives, targets, and metrics to monitor the effectiveness of the compliance program
- Monitor developments in relevant ethics and compliance laws and regulations that affect the client, particularly those related to the water and power sectors
- Conduct risk assessments to identify compliance risks, legal liabilities, and operational challenges, and recommend strategies for mitigation
- Oversee the preparation of reports for senior management and regulatory authorities regarding compliance status and issues
- Develop and oversee regular compliance audits, both internal and external, to ensure adherence to laws and regulations
- Analyze audit results and compliance data to identify trends and areas of concern
- Investigate compliance violations or potential violations, excluding environmental, health and safety, and operational non-compliance
- Coordinate corrective action plans and monitor their implementation to prevent future occurrences
- Develop and recommend policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with all relevant laws, including those pertaining to data protection, and corporate governance
- Perform third-party ethics compliance checks on major vendors, suppliers and partners
- Work closely with the Corporate Governance team to ensure that internal controls and governance processes align with compliance requirements
- Maintain effective communication with regulatory bodies, external auditors, and other stakeholders, ensuring all required reports are submitted accurately and on time
- Ensure implementation of performance indicators
- Ensure that employees receive sufficient specialized training to develop their behavioural and technical skills in coordination with Training & Development Department
- Review, improve and develop the compliance procedures, processes and policies in accordance with the standards followed by the client and ensure their implementation
- Enhancing the concept of creativity and innovation among the team and motivating them to participate in submitting suggestions within the activities of the division/department/section
- Promoting the concept of institutional sustainability among the team and motivating them to participate in submitting proposals that serve the activities of the directorate/department/section in line with the strategic directions of the client
- Ensuring that practices are compatible with compliance excellence standards and ensuring that all necessary excellence requirements are provided
- Ensuring the implementation of client policies that guarantee the preservation of the confidentiality and privacy of the client's data
- Applying behavioural rules in accordance with professional standards and general ethics
- Implementation of any assignments or tasks assigned by the line manager.
Experience, Qualifications & Requirements
Academic Degree:
- A bachelor's degree in law, Business Administration, Risk Management, Compliance, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) or Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) are highly advantageous.
Experience:
- 8–12 years in compliance, legal, or risk management roles (or 4–6 years with a Master's)
- Experience in compliance, legal, or risk management roles.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in risk management.
- Strong knowledge of compliance regulations and legal requirements relevant to the water and power industries, including ethics, anti-bribery and corruption laws.
- Proficient in compliance software, audit tools, and office applications (Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, etc.).
