Project Director

About the role

The Project Director will lead the end-to-end execution of large-scale renewable energy projects, including Solar, Wind, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The role ensures delivery within scope, budget, schedule, safety, and quality parameters. It requires leadership across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning stages, with strong focus on stakeholder coordination, risk management, and team development.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Strategy

• Define overall project execution strategies, governance frameworks, and performance KPIs.
• Lead project planning, development, and execution in alignment with company and client goals.
• Support business development, bid management, and contract negotiation phases.
• Ensure technical and commercial feasibility of renewable energy projects (Solar, Wind, BESS) during pre-award stages.

Engineering, Procurement & Construction

• Oversee engineering design reviews, technology selection, and interface management.
• Manage EPC contractors, OEMs, and subcontractors to ensure safe, cost-effective execution.
• Drive optimization of plant design, construction methodology, and commissioning plans.
• Monitor project progress through structured reporting, dashboards, and review meetings.

Commercial & Financial Management

• Establish and control project budgets, schedules, and cash flow forecasts.
• Oversee contract management, including claims, variations, and change control.
• Work with finance and legal teams to ensure compliance with commercial and contractual obligations.
• Ensure profitability and adherence to key financial metrics across project portfolios.

Stakeholder & Regulatory Interface

• Act as the single point of contact for clients, partners, lenders, consultants, and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, HSE, and statutory requirements.
• Liaise with government authorities, grid operators, and permitting agencies for timely approvals.
• Represent the company in consortium meetings, client reviews, and steering committees.

Team Leadership & Performance

• Lead multidisciplinary project teams, including engineers, planners, and site managers.
• Build a culture of safety, accountability, and high performance across all project sites.
• Mentor project managers and develop leadership succession plans.
• Oversee manpower and resource planning for ongoing and future projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Mechanical / Civil Engineering or equivalent; Master's or PMP preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in the power and renewable energy sector, with at least 3–5 years in a senior project leadership role.
• Proven experience managing utility-scale Solar, Wind, and BESS projects.
• Strong understanding of EPC project execution, grid interconnection, and commissioning.
• Familiarity with FIDIC or similar contract frameworks and project financing structures.
• Exposure to international projects (MENA, Africa, or Asia) preferred.
