Our client is a leading renewable energy company specializing in developing, owning, and operating utility-scale renewable energy projects across Africa and the Middle East, with a strong focus on solar, wind, and battery energy storage solutions.

About the role

The Senior Manager of HSE Compliance will develop and implement comprehensive environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure legal adherence and promote a safe workplace culture. Key responsibilities will include developing risk management strategies, ensuring compliance with regulations, investigating incidents, conducting audits, and liaising with regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders. The role also involves setting HSE goals, monitoring performance, managing environmental permits, and providing training to foster a safety-first culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Management: Develop, implement, and continually improve HSE programs, policies, and procedures to meet compliance expectations and promote best practices.
  • Risk Management: Oversee the identification, assessment, and mitigation of operational and safety risks, including the development of complex strategic risk management plans.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all local, regional, and international health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
  • Incident Investigation: Lead the investigation of incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Auditing and Monitoring: Conduct and oversee regular HSE audits and inspections, track performance metrics, and report on compliance status.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and internal departments (e.g., HR, engineering) to ensure alignment and address concerns.
  • Training and Culture: Develop and deliver safety training programs and lead initiatives to foster a positive and proactive safety culture across all levels of the organization.
  • Environmental Stewardship: Manage environmental programs, such as waste and water management, permitting, and sustainability initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Engineering, Environmental Science, or Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in HSE management, facility Management with a significant portion in a leadership role.
  • Professional certifications like CSP (Certified Safety Professional) are frequently a plus.
  • Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
