Main Purpose of Role
The Vice President (VP) of Supply Chain is responsible for setting and driving the end-to-end supply chain strategy. This includes procurement, vendor management, logistics, inventory management, contracts, and supplier performance, ensuring that operations and projects have the required materials, services, and infrastructure on time, at cost-effective levels, and in compliance with regulatory, quality, and sustainability standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement supply chain strategy aligned with corporate goals, regulatory requirements, sustainability, and national initiatives.
- Oversee procurement of goods, services, and works required for water and electricity generation, distribution, and infrastructure.
- Negotiate major contracts and establish supplier agreements while ensuring compliance.
- Manage inventory strategy, warehousing operations, and logistics to ensure timely delivery.
- Forecast demand, plan supply, and minimize disruptions with risk management strategies.
- Ensure supplier quality, safety, and regulatory compliance; conduct performance audits.
- Prepare and manage supply chain budget, cost controls, and deliver savings.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and represent supply chain function externally.
- Embed sustainability and HSE practices in supply chain operations.
- Drive digital transformation through ERP and supply chain technologies.
- Develop contingency plans and ensure supply chain continuity.
Experience, Qualifications & Requirements
Academic Degree:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business, or related field.
- Master's degree in a related field is preferred
Experience:
- 12-15 years of progressive supply chain experience, with at least 5 years in senior leadership.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Experience in utilities, infrastructure, or power/water sectors preferred.
- Expertise in procurement, vendor management, and risk mitigation.
- Strong financial acumen: budgeting, forecasting, cost control.
- Knowledge of ERP / supply chain management systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with UAE regulations, import/export, and local content rules.
